Advanced Digital Dentistry Diploma

The Postgraduate Diploma of the University of Genoa is a one-year international training programme designed to offer comprehensive training in all aspects of digital dentistry. The course defines a level of competence consistent with an experienced clinician.

The goal of the curriculum is to provide dentists with a scientifically based rationale for all diagnostic, treatment planning and patient care decisions. It delivers advanced evidence-based core knowledge in the modern approach and refines practical skills. The didactic format includes lectures, laboratory time, video review, literature review and intensive hands-on practice.

The programme covers treatment planning and smile design, intraoral scanning, CAD procedures, digital photography, and digital radiography analysis and management. Emphasis is placed on integrating this training into each participant’s ongoing practice — and on the future benefit for dental patients.

Learning Outcomes

  • Operate intraoral scanners and integrate them into a complete digital workflow
  • Apply CAD/CAM procedures and select appropriate milling and printing strategies
  • Plan and execute Digital Smile Design in restorative and aesthetic cases
  • Produce reliable clinical photography, including with a smartphone
  • Select between glass ceramics and zirconia for aesthetic rehabilitation
  • Design minimally invasive and mock-up driven preparations
  • Manage functional and postural cases digitally, including surface electromyography

What qualification do I receive?

Successful completion of the course and final examination is recognised by the certificate “Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Dentistry”, with a transcript of records legalised by the Italian government providing 10 ECTS.

Do I need to own a scanner to attend?

No. All hands-on sessions are run on equipment provided at our training centre, so you can develop confidence across several systems before investing in your own.

How much time will I spend away from my practice?

The course is structured as six two-day modules spread across the academic year — twelve teaching days in total, designed around the working commitments of practising dentists.
